YART taos garden style

About Us

YART

about yart

YART is a unique shop that focuses on both bringing the garden inside and the art outside in the form of eco-friendly gallery-quality art and a full nursery. We are proud to represent over 50 local artists, Stone Forest fountains, and Growing Spaces growing domes. YART’s funky combination of garden, gallery, and shop encompasses the spirit of Taos itself. YART is community-centered, culturally rich, and truly Taos !

about us

Jane Glenn once attracted unexpected attention simply by hanging one of her paintings on the outside of her house, instead of the inside. The community reactions to this simple and uncommon act inspired Jane and her neighbor and old family friend, Kathy Kronawitter, to feel moved to buck common trends and work to bring more art outside and more garden inside. Thus, YART was born. From the beginning, YART has been driven by its own cosmic momentum. YART has propelled people into unexpected yet surprisingly perfect jobs, and has involved more people than ever expected. We're all learning as we go, and make our mistakes with gusto and spirit and optimism. As Einstein said, "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."

OWNER
Kathy Kronawitter and her late husband Michael Yeager moved to the Taos area to build their off grid house 7 years ago after 25 years of vacationing in Taos. Prior to moving to Taos, she was a prestigious and successful florist in Austin, Texas. Interested, involved, and balanced, Kathy is a lover of beauty.

ART DIRECTOR
The vision for YART originated in Jane Glenn's brain. In her past and present she has been an eclectic artist; antique refurbisher, truck driver, almost barber, bookstore clerk, mental health worker, baker, and fiber fan. She belongs to Soup the YART Dog and they live off the grid with their three cats.

YART MASCOT
Soup the YART Dog is a highly skilled people charmer. He relocated from Texas to Taos in February and adopted Jane and a large portion of the Taos population. His bow-legged grace and constant challenge to the rules of perspective only add to his charm. He is, simply, Soup the YART Dog.

EMPLOYEES
YART's employees are from all walks of life--artists, dog-lovers, psychics, single moms, and more. They are the heart of YART. YART is about people more than inventory, and these are the folks that make it happen.
